My early boyhood wanderings in the woods and the blissful tinkerings with evil termites and the repulsive carcasses of vicious-wicked squirrels led me initially to pursue a calling within the very fine arts and tekhné of the malleable flesh - be it aesthetic odontology or even the surgical beautification of the unseemly frontispiece. Yet a more demiurgic side eventually surfaced and I started to explore the earthly wilderness as a naturaliste, voyeur and artiste: et fiet artifex! I am considering myself now a paintre de paysage, but not in the traditional vacuous sense. When painting the landscape, I strive to find a sight flaring with allurement, and then delightfully syphon  the inherent marvels. Although I sometimes wonder and ponder why I thirsted to be a landscape painter and reside in the horrid metropolis, where innocence and purity is scarce, but I think that this desillusion creates the desire to super-( even hyper-) struct the artifice. Henceforth I embark on short errands to the treacherous banlieues many times each spring and fall to gather resource materials, and I take pictures of the charming and wondrous near my burghal residence. So my paintings often subsume a coalesce of manicured latencies and more endemic splendours. Always searching for magical, almost unreal imagery and decorative apotheosis that will flabbergast my breath away: all these quiescences provide me with ever new virgin and divine protoplasm to explore. For me, landscape epitomises the rebus of our beloved cosmos and its underlying strata—within, on and outside the ever so mysterious planet on which we breath and perish landscape painting is the ultimate search for the ephemeral and enchanting beauty in the wilderness of our lost and tortured human souls.


Withal there is not much truly virgin nature left anymore and my fierce unsullied devotion is to find the amaranthine in the mutilated, the pristine in the spoiled and the sacred in the ordinary. I strive to create most of my paysages in the slant of late afternoon light, a moment when the sun rays skim nearly parallel to the ground. At this liminal passing from day to night, light streams through translucent abandoned plastic bags, through blades of glass, through dry stinging nettles, revealing searing black and acid violets, unveiling an intrinsic intensity which is only unlocked when rays of light flow through these living forms before reaching our eyes. In observing and painting the brightness and saturation of these colours, along with the crimson of the setting sun and the deep lactescent of the heightening shadows, I am celebrating a enchanting and spellbinding world. 


Consequently my paintings are defined by their appropriation of, and radical departure from, the mundanity of familiar objects and typify a more contemporary version of the sublime - one that includes the beauty of exhausted matter and disintegration, contingency and failure, boredom and monotony. A faded Tetra Brik, a wasted black feather, an exquisite shiny black plastic foil lacerated by the merciless hyperborean  wind – each with its own morphology or  anatomy explored and dissected – transmutes into a substratum for artistic meditation and aesthetic driftings. Rather than re-creating a landscape on a canvas and framing one existing geography, I take elements from manifold provenances to build my enthralling worlds of empyrean otherness. Eventually, each piece will capture some fragment of the landscape’s splendor until the larger body of work coalesces to express its deepest essence and tries to convey the nearly ecstatic experience of wonder and marvel. The emanating dyslexic assemblage and the somehow paradoxical avoidance of syntax lead ultimately to heterogenous uncertain artistic compositions - incomplete and ironic essays: tangential, oblique and evanescent.
